The Insurance Institute of South Africa was first established in 1898. Subsequent development saw further institutes develop in all the main cities and towns in South Africa, all affiliated to the Chartered Insurance Institute in London. The focus was the provision of insurance technical learning material - for distance learning and testing by examination. In 1966 the local institutes voted to form a central South Africa body and the Insurance Institute of South Africa was formed as an affiliate of the CII, with the local institutes in turn becoming affiliates of the IISA.
In its endeavour to execute this, the centre accepts the fundamental philosophy of partners in education, based on the underlying principle that continuing management education is the responsibility of the university, as well as the business community. Renowned for its regular educational and training workshops and seminars, the Institute is not unfamiliar with the monumental effort involved in organising a conference or event.
Heidi Kruger of the Insurance Institute of South Arica (IISA) says with its regular 260-delegate breakfast seminars and the annual 600-delegate conference the IISA has also been delighted with the Summit Pro software, which allows the conference organiser to among many other capabilities, track delegate details including payment and other trends which assists in future organising and catering.
Says Ms Kruger: "I would say that if you are going to use this software, you should invest in all of the modules and use it to its full extent. Furthermore it's so refreshing to work with service providers who are always willing to go the extra mile," she adds.
